Kochi: The Central Bureau of Investigation has approached the High Court seeking to lift the stay on the probe into the Life Mission project. CBI informed that court that the stay would affect further investigation.

The disclosed corruption is only a tip of the iceberg. Many details are yet to come out which can be revealed only after detailed probe. For this the stay has to be lifted. A team of senior officials and high profile persons are involved in it. Other probing agencies also have found this, CBI stated in court.

Santhosh Eapen, MD of Unitac Builders, who was given contract for executing the controversial LIFE Mission project in Wadakkancherry, has admitted of giving iPhones to gold smuggling accused Swapna Suresh, to be handed over to officials. One of the seven iPhones was given to M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to chief minister and an accused in gold smuggling case. This confirms Sivasankar has given illegitimate help to Eapen. Life Mission CEO UV Jose has given statement that the proposal by Habitat was overruled to give the contract to Unitac, CBI stated.

CBI also pointed out the previous orders from Supreme Court saying that the probe into such cases shouldn’t be obstructed even partially.
