New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the investigation into the death of violinist Balabhaskar. Earlier, the Kerala Police was in charge of the probe.
The Kerala government had decided to hand over the case to CBI in December last year. Following this, the CBI is taking up the case now.
Balabhaskar's father and others had raised suspicions regarding his death and demanded a CBI probe. Due to this, the state government decided to hand over the case from the Crime Branch to the CBI.
According to the Crime Branch investigation, there was no mystery over the accident in which Balabhaskar was killed.
The Innova car, in which Balabhaskar and family were travelling, met with the accident on September 24, 2018. Balabhaskar died at a hospital while his two-year-old daughter Thejaswini Bala died on the spot. Balabhaskar’s wife and driver were critically injured in the accident.
Later, artiste Kalabhavan Sobi, who was travelling in his vehicle on the same route alleged that he happened to see a person at the accident spot while passing through. Soon after the gold smuggling case came to light, Sobi came up with further revelations that the mysterious man seen at the accident spot resembled Sarith, one of the accused in the gold smuggling case.
