CBI requests SC to extend hearing of petitions in Lavalin case
New Delhi: The CBI has forwarded a letter to Supreme Court requesting to extend the hearing in petitions related to SNC Lavalin case.
CBI advocate Arvind Kumar Sharma has sent the letter to the apex court here on Thursday. It is reported that CBI has sought more time for the hearing to submit documents related to the case.
Earlier, the court had directed CBI to submit a detailed report on the facts related to the case. CBI has sought time to submit this report. Central government lawyers told Mathrubhumi News that the submission of this report is being delayed due to the spread of COVID-19.
Various petitions related to the Lavalin case is the 23rd case listed to be considered on Friday. An SC bench including justices UU Lalit, R Subhash Reddy and S Ravindra Bhat will hear the petitions.
If the court approves the CBI’s request to extend the hearing, the petitions will be considered only after Diwali holidays.
