Thiruvananthapuram: Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, who passed away in Havana, was a revolutionary who worked for the liberation of Cuba and the betterment of the humanity, CPI state Secretary Kanam Rajendran said Saturday.

He played an important role in uniting the third world countries against the US imperialism, Kanam said.

Castro had worked closely with India under the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and fought for the liberation of the Latin American countries, he added.

Castro opened doors for the liberation of third world nations: Isaac  

Cuban leader Fidel Castro was a person who opened the doors for the liberation of third world countries, Finance Minister Thomas Isaac. The stance taken by the United States made him a Communist. His support to the freedom struggles of countries across the globe is huge, he added.

The bright red star who led Cuba: Benoy Viswam  

Fidel Castro was a bright red star on growth path of Cuba, CPI leader Benoy Viswam said. He showed the world that how important it is to hand over power once a person reaches old age, Benoy Viswam said, adding that his name is synonymous with the term ‘the fighter of ideologies’.
