Thiruvananthapuram: The CBI has requested the high court to issue an order to submit the chargesheet in connection with corruption in Cashew Development Corporation. The CBI informed that permission of the state government is not required to submit chargesheet as per a previous order from the Supreme Court. The chargesheet is against INTUC leader R Chandrasekharan and former MD of Cashew Development Corporation K A Ratheesh.

The CBI had approached the state government seeking permission from the prosecution but was denied. Following this, the CBI could not submit the chargesheet against R Chandrasekharan and K A Ratheesh. With this, the petitioner Kadakampally Manoj approached the high court and questioned the state government’s stand.

The CBI made their stand clear following this move. They stated that they need no permission from the state government as it was clear from the previous order of the supreme court. So, they requested the court to issue an order to submit chargesheet.

The state government informed the court that Additional Advocate General is yet to appear in the case but has difficulties to appear due to the COVID situation. Following this, the case was postponed to Monday.
