Case registered against Vellappally Natesan
Thiruvananthapuram: Aluva police have registered case against SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan for his comment against Noushad, who died while trying to rescue two drainage workers in Kozhikode, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has said.
The case has been registered as per IPC Section 153-A, for 'promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony'. The Director General of Prosecution provided legal advice in this regard.
Vellappally is spreading communal vitriol like never before, Chennithala told media persons here. He added that the Samathwa Munnetta Yatra would not be stopped.
Earlier, talking at the reception accorded to Samathwa Munnetta Yatra at Aluva on Sunday, Vellappally had alleged that the government announced solatium for the kin of Noushad, who lost his life while attempting to save the life two migrant labourers in Kozhikode, since he belonged to a particular community.
"Rs 10 lakh is given as compensation, besides offering a government job (for victim's wife). Is it true saying that no religion and caste in Kerala," Natesan had said.
Petitions of KPCC chief V M Sudheeran and T N Prathapan against Vellappally had been received. Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan also raised the same demand. Another complaint was filed at the Aluva police station. The case has been filed taking all these into account, Chennithala said.
