Cheruthoni: A car fell into a ditch near Mariyapuram here the other day. The car that was being driven by Cheruthoni native Anu Maheshwar was involved in a serious mishap but the driver was saved miraculously.
The car that was travelling from Thankamani to Cheruthoni, swerved to avoid hitting another car that came in the opposite direction, lost control and fell into the ditch.
The driver stepped out of the car that landed alongside the river but fell into it when she stepped out of the vehicle. She was carried away for a distance, caught hold of a branch that was extending into the river and somehow escaped. Locals and fire and rescue team took her to Primary Health Center in Mariyapuram first and she was later shifted to Idukki Medical College.
