Udma: Four persons were injured after a car lost control and plunged into a well of a mosque near the roadside in Udma on Tuesday. The car driver lost control of the vehicle when it hit a bike approaching from the opposite direction. The car then headed straight into a well, only a few metres away from the main road, and fell into it.
The locals rescued Abdul Nazar (48), who was behind the wheels, and his children Midhilaj (13), Ajmal (9) and Vahid (6). The well was 7 metres deep and located near the Hydros Juma Masjid in Poochakkad.
The timely intervention of Ramachandran, Ayyappan and Shameer Kallingal saved the lives of the children. They entered the well using a rope and rescued the children from the car lying inside the well. Soon, fire force officials arrived and saved Abdul Nazar also.
Three persons who were travelling on the bike which was hit by the car also sustained injuries. They were Kalluravi natives Safila (31), Ansil (9) and Asmila (13).
