Thiruvananthapuram: Congress working committee member AK Antony said that the candidate selection for the elections will not be done by considering groups. He said that the decision will be taken after seeking opinions from fractions. The high command has instructed to complete candidate selection in February. Antony clarified the party stand in Congress leadership meet.
KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran said that the names of candidates who have the chances of winning must be suggested before February 20. The nominee list must be prepared after considering the opinions of the lower fractions including mandalam committee.
This time, no one can become leaders on the basis of group. There won’t be a system where a few people in the high level deciding the candidates. Congress has decided to finalize all candidates by the end of February.
Congress has decided to kick start the campaigns in Kerala with the visit of Rahul Gandhi in the end of January. Following this, the KPCC president will travel in the state. Antony also said that a meeting of DCC representatives will be called in three zones.
