Can't cooperate with LDF; Joseph M Puthussery planning to join PJ Joseph faction
Thiruvananthapuram: In protest over the decision of Kerala Congress Jose K Mani faction to join the LDF, a group of party workers led by Joseph M Puthussery are planning to move to P J Joseph faction.
Though they supported Jose K Mani faction when they left UDF, the move to join LDF cannot be accepted at any cost.
The Jose K Mani faction is moving to the LDF. They have already handed over to the CPM leaders a list of seats they want to contest in the local body polls. CPM plans to make a public agreement with them as they reach a consensus in the LDF.
Meanwhile, Congress supports the move to invite those who do not want to join LDF. They even offered protection for those who leave the Jose K Mani faction and stand with the UDF.
However, Congress is of the opinion that those who leave the group should join the Joseph faction instead of forming a new faction. Though there were minor issues when Kerala Congress led by K M Mani left UDF earlier, no major troubles took place as they remained an independent party.
Joseph M Puthussery was elected to the assembly from Kallooppara in 1991, 2001 and 2006. He could not contest the election in 2011 as the constituency was dissolved. Though he contested the polls from Thiruvalla in 2016, he lost.
Joseph M Puthussery is the former general secretary of Kerala Congress and the high level committee member of the party at present.
