Alappuzha: Finance Minister Thomas Isaac has finally confirmed that the CAG submitted the final report on KIIFB.
Giving an explanation, the minister stated that he assumed that the report was a draft as the CAG did not discuss it with the government. He pointed out that the final report carried matters which were not mentioned in the previous report.
“The report may be draft or final, but the consequence of CAG’s stance on Kerala’s development is the matter of concern. The final report has carried new matters which were not mentioned in the draft. About 4 pages were added from Delhi. A big conspiracy was hatched against Kerala. Nobody expected such a move against our state. It is an issue that affects Kerala’s development. All political parties should unite against this,” said Thomas Isaac.
The minister alleged that the CAG report on KIIFB was part of a huge political conspiracy.
Responding to allegations on disclosing the details of CAG report before tabling it in the assembly, Thomas Isaac stated that he will face the consequences if he violated the rule. He pointed out that more than the violation of the rule, challenges to Kerala’s development was the major issue.
Thomas Isaac revealed that the company owned by the chartered accountant, who was interrogated over the gold smuggling case, was selected for auditing of KIIFB through tender. Isaac also stated that liability of KIIFB should not be considered as a direct liability as claimed by CAG.
“KIIFB is a corporate body. RBI has granted permission for Corporate bodies to take loans from abroad,” said the minister during the press meet.
