Cabinet zeroes in on Cheruvally estate for Sabarimala airport
Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has decided to use the disputed Cheruvally estate for the construction of Sabarimala airport. The government will seek necessary legal guidance to take up the controversial land.
The land will be acquired after remitting the the required compensation amount based on section 77 of the land acquisition act. A high level meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday in this regard.
The meeting was attended by Revenue Minister E Chandrasekharan and Revenue Secretary along with other senior officials.
Chief Minister urged the secretaries concerned to expedite steps to be taken in this regard. A case is still pending in the High Court in connection with the ownership of the land.
