Thiruvananthapuram: Despite the protest by PSC rank holders gaining strength, the government has made many temporary appointments permanent.
The cabinet meeting on Monday decided to regularise the appointments of 221 temporary staff with over 10 years of experience. The cabinet also decided to create 261 new posts.
The permanent appointments are in: SCOLE Kerala – 54, Kerala State Youth Welfare Board – 37, Co-Operative Academy of Professional Education – 14 and Kerala Tourism Development Corporation – 100.
The government is arguing that regularisation of appointments is applicable to posts which are not filled by PSC. Earlier, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had returned the file to regularise staff in SCOLE Kerala due to technical reasons. After the file was observed by the Law Department, it was sent to the CM once again.
The government has also decided to create 140 new posts including that of 115 professor posts to start the functioning of Wayanad medical college.
Other newly created posts include 55 in Kerala Coir Workers Welfare Fund Board including 16 UCC and 17 LDC posts. 6 entry cadre posts will be created in Malabar Devaswom Board. 60 new posts will be created in different sections in the Advocate General’s office. 23 among them are assistant posts.
