Kochi: Industrial minister P Rajeev and Minister for Local Self-Government MB Rajesh visited the Brahmapuram waste treatment plant on Friday.
Minister P Rajeev said that the state government has streamlined various measures to resolve the issue in Brahmapuram. He also highlighted the efforts of various departments, including fire force units, to control the fire that engulfed the treatment plant for the past nine days.
"The accident in Brahmapuram should have never taken place in the first place. The lesson is such incidents should not happen in the future," Rajeev said. He informed that a meeting chaired by Minister MB Rajesh in the presence of all elected representatives would soon take place to examine issues related to the fire in Brahmapuram.
Meanwhile, the units of the fire force, police, navy and others continue working round the clock to douse the fire in Brahmapuram. As per the latest reports, 70 per cent of the fire has been extinguished. Further, the release of smoke from burning wastes has been reduced.
