Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala cabinet on Wednesday approved one-time financial assistance of Rs 1000 each to the endosulfan victims in Kasaragod district. The aid will be allocated to the 5,287 individuals receiving pensions through Kerala Social Security Mission (KSSM).
Earlier this month, social activist Daya Bai conducted a hunger strike in front of the state secretariat, demanding the immediate intervention from the state government to solve the problems faced by Endosulfan victims in Kasaragod.
She 'temporarily' ended her 17-day-long strike on October 18 after the government agreed to the majority of her demands.
Following these events, the state government decided to consider providing financial assistance to endosulfan victims.
