CAA protests: CM criticises Congress, praises Muslim League
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan showered criticism on Congress over the protests against Citizenship Amendment Act in Kerala. At the same time, he appreciated Muslim League for their support to the protest. The chief minister made this strategic move hinting at another political game in his reply to the debate on Motion of Thanks at the assembly on Thursday.
Attacking the Congress in the assembly, the Chief Minister did not criticise Muslim League. He asked Muslim League to advise Congress to launch a joint protest against CAA. Muslim League also welcomed Pinarayi’s proposal to launch a joint protest.
However, Congress is irked by the Muslim League’s relationship with CPM. It is reported that senior CPM-Muslim League leaders held talks.
It is hinted that Muslim League is influenced by the CPM’s strong stand against CAA. Muslim League is worried that CPM will win basic votes in the elections. Hence, it is viewed that the local body elections will be crucial for Congress.
