CAA: Kerala cannot escape responsibility, says Arif Mohammad Khan
Kochi: Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan refused to comment on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s statement that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) will not be implemented in Kerala.
Stating that the limit of powers held by the state and central governments are well defined in the constitution, Arif Mohammad Khan said that nobody can escape their responsibilities.
“We only can work from within the limits of the constitution. I have faith in the constitution and the elected government. There is nothing to be concerned about CAA. No one is going to lose their citizenship,” he said.
Earlier, Pinarayi Vijayan had said that the Citizenship Amendment Act introduced by the centre does not have any place in Kerala. The CM also said he would inform the central government regarding Kerala’s dissent in this regard.
