C P Jaleel was murdered in fake encounter, allege kin; Seek judicial probe
Kalpetta: Maoist leader C P Jaleel was killed in a fake encounter, alleged his brothers C P Rasheed and C P Jishad.
Stating that Jaleel was taken to the forest and shot dead by police, Rahseed and Jishad demanded a judicial enquiry into the incident. Speaking to media, the brothers also requested to hand oved the dead body.
“The police said the encounter started at night and went on till early morning. Only the police version has come out. Despite sustaining bullet injuries, Jaleel was not taken to the hospital. We were allowed to see the dead body only in the afternoon. We tried to contact the police several times but never received a favourable reply,” Rasheed said.
“This is a common theme in all the Maoist encounters in the country. We are hearing similar stories from Manipur and Bastar. Incidents of Maoists being poisoned to death have also come out. If there was a gunfight between Thunderbolt and Maoists, how come not even a single police officer was injured?, he added.
“Several senior police officials were present in Vythiri where the incident took place. They were aware of the Maoist presence. Cases must be registered against the policemen who shot the Maoist,” Rahseed said.
The deceased, C P Jaleel is a native of Pandikkad in Malappuram district. Jaleel’s body was found lying face down near a fish pond inside the private resort. After inquest, the body will be taken to the Kozhikode medical college hospital for post mortem. Police and family members stated that Jaleel never came home after 2014.
