Thiruvananthapuram: CPM leader and former minister C Divakaran has come down heavily on former chief minister V.S. Achuthanandan and finance minister Thomas Isaac.
The Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency LDF candidate criticised that CPI was ignored during the tenure of V.S. Achuthanandan and that the then finance minister Thomas Isaac unnecessarily delayed files of CPI ministers.
Divakaran was speaking at a meeting organised by Bharana Parishkara Vedi (forum for the study of civil service reforms) to commemorate D Saju.
“There were intense disputes between ministers in the V.S. Achuthanandan ministry. The finance minister does not have any special privileges. I have taken strong stances in front of him. He does not have the authority to interfere in other departments,” Divakaran said recollecting the incidents during V.S. Achuthanandan’s tenure.
Divakaran also criticised that the Administrative Reforms Commission led by V.S. Achuthanandan was a complete failure. He alleged that the government was obstructing the work of assembly committees.
Divakaran’s criticism against CPM leaders soon after the LS polls has created concerns in the LDF camp. If the results are against the front, this could adversely affect the relationship between the two major parties in the Left front.
