Thiruvananthapuram: The principal of Thiruvananthapuram University College has been removed from his post following the recent violence and seizure of University examination answer sheets.
Principal in charge K. Viswambharan has been removed from the post and has been replaced by Dr. C. C. Babu, according to an order from the higher education department.
Babu is the principal of Thrissur Government college. Principals of five other government colleges have also been transferred.
University college will be re-opened on Monday. In accordance with the decision of the college council, flags, banners and posters inside the college were removed using labourers.
Earlier, preliminary investigations by the deputy director of college education had found lapses by teachers in connection with the stabbing of SFI activist Akhil and seizure of university examination answer sheets from the college union office and the house of the main accused Shivaranjith.
The deputy director of college education had sought a report from the principal in this regard.
