Thiruvananthapuram: The by-election to six assembly constituencies in the state is likely to be conducted in October this year. The preparations for the same has started.
The bypoll is planned to be conducted by the end of October considering the flood havoc in Kerala and other states. Also, it is likely to be postponed to the beginning of November.
The Election Commission had decided to start updating voters’ list for bypolls from September 1. Kerala has informed that there are barriers to conduct the polls due to flood havoc. The Election Commission of India will decide the revised date.
The by-election will be conducted in Konni, Ernakulam, Vattiyookkavu and Aroor which were vacant after the MLAs were elected in the Lok Sabha polls, and in Pala and Manjeshawaram which were emptied after the demise of MLAs K. M. Mani and Abdul Razaq.
