Thiruvananthapuram: The Home Department has recommended a probe against DGP Sudesh Kumar based on a complaint of threatening a jewellery shop staff and obtaining 95 per cent discount. The complaint has been handed over to the office of the Chief Minister. It has been hinted that the CM will announce an investigation over the complaint, soon after his return from abroad.
Following the examination of the bills and other documents submitted along with the complaint, the Home Department recommended that an investigation is inevitable. The department found that the DGP paid only a meagre amount for the gold chain he purchased from the jewellery showroom of the complainant. A case will be registered if any discrepancies were found in the preliminary probe.
The complaint alleged that Sudesh Kumar bought a seven sovereign gold chain and demanded a discount of 95 per cent. Though the staff offered a 50 per cent reduction in price, he was not satisfied. The next day also, the DGP arrived at the jewellery shop and threatened the staff and manager for more discount. Later, the owner intervened and gave him the discount he demanded and recorded it in the bill.
