Siddique murder: Accused planned to flee to Jamshedpur; victim's body brought for autopsy

RPF team with the accused nabbed from Egmore station

Kozhikode: Shibili and Farhana, accused in the murder of Tirur businessman Siddique, were reportedly nabbed amid their attempts to flee to Jamshedpur from Chennai. They were taken into custody by Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials from Egmore railway station on Thursday night.

Apparently, the accused were planning to board a train to Tatanagar railway station in Jamshedpur. However, the duo was caught by RPF officials while they were waiting at the station.

The Tirur police team, who had launched a probe into the missing complaint lodged by Siddique’s relatives, traced the accused with the aid of CCTV footage and mobile phone location. It was suspected that Shibili and Siddique had fled to Chennai.

Around 5.45 pm on Thursday, the Tirur police intimated Egmore RPF and the latter inspected the station. The accused were nabbed by 7 pm and were handed over to Tirur police at 10 am on Friday.

Meanwhile, the body of Siddique, which was found stuffed inside two trolley bags and dumped beneath a hairpin curve on Attappady Ghat road, has been brought to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. The body was taken to the hospital mortuary around Friday noon.

At present, the police have taken three people namely Shibili, Farhana and Ashik into custody in connection with the murder. Ashiq’s involvement in the murder has been confirmed by the police. He has been accused in several criminal cases earlier.
