Thrissur: A bus toppled over a car here on the highway near Ambalur signal junction. Five passengers inside the bus suffered minor injuries. The traffic on the national highway was disrupted for almost an hour following the accident.
The accident happened at 5.10 am on Tuesday. The bus that was going from Kasaragod to Munnar fell over the car that was travelling from Moorkkanad to Thodupuzha. The tourist bus lost control and fell onto the car that stopped in front of the signal.
It is learned that the bus swerved to avoid hitting the immobile car. A major disaster was avoided as there were no passengers at the rear of the car. Puthukkad police and fire force engaged in rescue operations.
More and more accidents are taking place near Ambalur signal these days. The traffic signal light in Ambalur was shattered in an accident that happened the other day. It has not been reinstalled.
