Thiruvananthapuram: Passengers were put in hardship due to the KSRTC strike by two recognised unions of the corporation disrupting the services on Tuesday. Of the 2700 buses that was scheduled to ply, only 213 buses conducted service. The strike was total in 45 depots among the 93 depots in the state. The Mechanic workers did not participate in the strike. The INTUC and the BMS organised the strike.

The employees who did not back the strike and are from Left-backed outfits also stayed away from work. Due to the strike, KSRTC services remained disrupted on Tuesday. After the meeting of TDF and KSTES with KSRTC chairman and MD on Monday failed to arrive at a favourable decision, the unions went ahead with the strike.

The unions organised the strike demanding withdrawal of decision to float KSRTC SWIFT, revision of salary and to end punitive transfers.
