Slaughter house in Kadakkal grama panchayat
Kollam: The slaughterhouse in Kadakkal grama panchayat now resembles a haunted house. The construction of the building in Chayikottu started nearly two decades back with an expense of several lakhs, but it was stopped midway. The building is now being reclaimed by nature with trees and plants growing inside it. Cracks have found their way across the entire structure of the building. The building is now in a completely abandoned state.
Pigs and dogs have taken a resort in this building. The locals are not able to walk past it anymore due to the nuisance of these animals. The panchayat authorities were informed of the matter following which they cleared the grass and thickets that were growing around the building.
But the locals have raised the complaint that they are not able to move around in the area and have called for some immediate action to be taken over the building.
