Thiruvananthapuram: Finance Minister Thomas Isaac said that the state budget will not have announcements regarding Coronavirus vaccination.

As the central government’s stance on vaccination is not clear, we cannot say anything about it. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has announced free vaccination even if the Centre does not provide the vaccines for free. If the Centre provides the vaccines for a low price, the state government will only need to spend less amount for procuring the vaccines.

Speaking to Mathrubhumi News, the minister said the budget will not put any tax burden on the people. More assistance will be provided to those coming under various welfare pension schemes. Special aid will be provided to farmers.

Isaac said that the budget will be known as one that chalks out a plan to resolve unemployment faced by educated people.

The state government had been following a strict economic policy in the last five years. Relaxations were made only after the coronavirus pandemic. As this is the last budget, the war chest will have to be opened and several sectors will need consideration, Isaac added.
