Budget allocates Rs 250 cr for Kudumbashree
Thiruvananthapuram: The state annual budget has allocated Rs 250 crore for Kudumbashree. Presenting the budget, Finance Minister Thomas Isaac noted the great contributions of Kudumbashree in empowering women. He pointed out that projects for women are the major highlight of the budget.
The state budget 2016-17 allocated Rs 760 crore for projects to women. In this budget, the government earmarked Rs 1509 crore for projects related to women.
An agreement was made to produce umbrella, coconut products and curry powders under Kudumbashree units and market via Civil Supplies outlets. Kudumbashree has taken initiative to launch Kerala Chicken in the market. So far, Kudumbashree started 1000 poultry farms in the state.
Kudumbashree also launched food products under the brand name Nutrimix in the market. 275 building construction units, 206 multitask units and 76 event management teams were also started.
The budget 2020-21 proposed new projects for Kudumbashree.
She lodge will be established in all districts under Kudumbashree. 200 more Kerala Chicken outlets will be opened. 50 hotels with a turnover of Rs 30,000 per day will be established under Kudumbashree.
At the same time, government’s ambitious project titled ‘Hunger free Kerala’ will be undertaken by Kudumbashree. Under this project, 1000 hotels will be opened to provide meals at Rs 25.
The budget proposed that bank loan of Rs 3000 cr will be provided to Kudumbashree units at 4 percent interest rate.
