Thiruvananthapuram: The cabinet has decided to recommend the governor to convene the new session of the assembly from February 18. This time, the assembly session will be held in two phases.
The first phase of the session will start with the Governor’s address and will prorogue after paying homage to late MLA PT Thomas on February 21. From February 22 to 24, a discussion over the motion of thanks for the Governor’s policy address will be held. The Chief Minister will give his reply over the discussion on February 24 following which the first phase will conclude.
Notably, the second phase of the session will only start from March 11 as the CPM state conference is scheduled around the same time. The session will conclude on March 23. The budget presentation will be held on March 11, while the discussion on the same will take place from March 14 to March 16.
Meanwhile, there are speculations that the cabinet is planning to resume the offline meetings from next week. The move reportedly comes as many ministers are not able to express their opinions properly in the virtual meetings.
