BSNL 4G: Kerala circle recommends 3700 towers in state
Thrissur: Kerala circle of BSNL has recommended 3700 towers to be equipped with 4G facilities as the company is planning to introduce 4G in the country. The Kerala circle also feels that introduction of 4G will increase the number of BSNL consumers in the state.
The Kerala circle is of the opinion that compared to other states, BSNL is favored over other networks in the state. Kerala is also one of the biggest contributors to BSNL revenue. It is in this context that the Kerala circle of BSNL has asked for 3700 towers in the state to be equipped with 4G facility.
As of now, 4G facilities have been provided to 700 towers in the state. If these towers are installed with an equipment worth Rs 1 lakh, the quality of the service will be much better. The state has over 6000 towers, while there are more than 60,000 towers in the entire country. Although 4G spectrum will be given free of cost, the money worth crores for the special equipment is yet to be arranged. The company is planning to secure the money through bank loans and debenture worth Rs. 16 crores.
