Bribery allegation: Vigilance registers FIR against K M Shaji


The case pertains to the allegation that K. M. Shaji took Rs 25 lakh as bribe to grant permission for higher secondary course at Azhikode high school when P.K. Abdu Rabb was the Education Minister.

Kannur: The vigilance has submitted an FIR in the case pertaining to the allegation that K. M. Shaji MLA sought bribe to grant permission for higher secondary course at Azhikode high school.

The FIR was submitted at the Thalassery Vigilance Court at 11.30 am on Saturday. Kannur Vigilance DySP Madhusoodhanan is in-charge of the investigation.

The case was registered after examining the opinion of the director board, statement of Koduman Padmanabhan and the complaint filed by former Muslim League activist Naushad Poothappara.

At present, K. M. Shaji is the only accused in the case registered according to various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

An order in this regard was received at the Kannur Vigilance office on Friday evening. Following this, the officials completed steps for registering case the other day itself.

The case pertains to the allegation that K. M. Shaji took Rs 25 lakh as bribe to grant permission for higher secondary course at Azhikode high school when P.K. Abdu Rabb was the Education Minister. The complaint was registered on September 19, 2017.
