Thiruvananthapuram: A wide variety of symbols are awaiting independent candidates in the upcoming assembly election. The proposed symbols include household articles, food items and fruits.
Bread and bread toaster also are some of the different symbols allotted for independent candidates. Seven national parties and four state parties in Kerala have been allotted their registered symbols. Apart from this, 201 symbols are included in the list for independent candidates.
The list starts from air conditioner to thread and needle. Fruits like apple, pineapple, watermelon and jackfruit also are added as symbols. Socks, pants and coat are the symbols from dress items. Triangle and cube are included from geometric shapes.
In addition to the regular symbols like battery, torch, cricket bat, auto rickshaw and glass tumbler, there are other items like CCTV camera, crane, drill machine, dumbbells, extension cord, beans, plyers, razor, pen nib and 7 light rays.
State Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena said that more symbols are likely to be included in the list when the election is round the corner.
