Kochi: In the aftermath of Kerala's devastating fire incident, the Kochi Corporation has taken decisive steps to terminate its contract with bio-mining company Zonta Infratech.

The Kochi Corporation has issued a show-cause notice to Zonta Infratech. The notice provides Zonta with a ten-day window to furnish an explanation. The contract is annulled with the permission of the Local Self Government Department. However, the final decision would be taken after Zonta issues an explanation.

Zonta came to the public limelight following the fire at Brahmapuram Waste Treatment Plant in Kochi. Following the incident, the company came under immense scrutiny, including contract violation and faced various allegations. The Opposition parties also demanded the Corporation cancel the contract signed with the biomining firm.

The show-cause notice was issued to Zonta by citing the company's lapses over biomining and fire accidents at the plant.
