Alathur: A boy studying in class 6 spent Rs 42,000 from his mother's bank account to play online ‘Free Fire' game. The money was withdrawn from the account multiple times during a period of time.

The family contacted the SBI branch after they received several messages informing about the withdrawal. When the boy's mother went to the SBI Erimayur branch and collected the account information, it was found that amount ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 3000 was withdrawn several times in the last five months.

The woman's 12-year-old son said he was not aware that he was losing money while playing the game. The father of the child is abroad and deposited his earnings into the account of his wife. The boy used to help his mother to manage net banking services through the same mobile phone.

The bank officials said that the money cannot be recovered as the child linked the bank account to the game knowingly or unknowingly.
