Kottayam: A boy fell off from a speeding private bus at Power House junction in Pakkil here. Abhiram, a Class 8 student, sustained injuries on his face and sought treatment at Kottayam Government Medical College. The incident happened around 4 pm on Friday. The boy fell off while travelling in a bus named ‘Chippi’ operating on Kottayam- Kainady route.
His elbow, lips and teeth were injured in the fall.
The onlookers alleged overspeeding of the bus as the cause of the accident. Abhiram’s father Shino blamed that the door of the bus was open and the employees refused to take the boy to hospital after the accident. He also informed that he will go forward with legal proceedings against the bus staff.
A preliminary probe has been initiated under the Road Transport Officer. RTO assured to take action against the bus and directed the driver to report at the office the next day.
