Accused Vijin, Vijith, Alash, Vineeth
Thiruvananthapuram: Police have arrested four persons, including the groom, on charges of creating panic by throwing a bomb during a brawl at a wedding reception in Peroorkada.
The accused have been identified as Akash (22), a resident of Pothencode, and Vijith (23), Vineeth (28), and Vijin (24) from Attingal and Manjamala, respectively. The incident took place on Sunday at approximately 10 pm.
As per the police investigation, the groom's friends had arrived at the wedding reception venue carrying machetes and crude bombs. The suspects reportedly threw a bomb at people standing outside the church, causing panic. When the locals gathered and turned against them, the assailants fled the scene in an auto rickshaw. They allegedly hurled more bombs when a few locals followed them.
The police revealed that the suspects are involved in several other crimes, including a case of attempted murder in the police stations of Attingal, Venjaramoodu, and Chirayinkeezhu.
