Bogus voting complaint; woman arrested in Manjeswaram
Manjeswaram: Police arrested a woman here on Monday following a complaint that she attempted to cast bogus vote.
The incident took place at booth number 42 at Bakrabayal AUP school in the constituency. She has been identified as Nabeesa, a native of Bakrabayal in Kasaragod district. It is learned that she is an Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) activist but there has been no official confirmation in this regard.
Nabeesa’s name does not feature in the voters list in Manjeswaram. However, she allegedly attempted to cast the vote of a woman whose name has been removed from the voters list. She was arrested based on a complaint by the presiding officer. Charges including impersonation has been registered against her.
However, Nabeesa’s family denied the allegations. They stated that Nabeesa has been casting her vote at the same booth ever since she was married. Nabeesa's relatives alleged that there were two people with the same name at their house.
