Bodies of 3 youth who went missing in river recovered in Kannur


All three of them went missing while taking bath in the river on Friday by 5 pm. They could not be found in the search operation which continued till night.

Sreekandapuram (Kannur): The bodies of three people who went missing in Payyavoor river at Koottupuzha in Parakkadavu here have been recovered. The deceased are identified as Irikkoor native Maneesh, Vanchiyam native V C Sanoop (19) and Paisakkari native Arun Saji (19).

Payyavoor native Ajith Rajan who accompanied them escaped as he did not step down to the river. All three of the deceased went missing while taking bath in the river on Friday by 5 pm. They could not be found in the search operation which continued till night.

Later, the bodies were found 20 metre down from the accident spot on Saturday morning in a search operation by Fire Force from Taliparamba, Iritty and Kannur and police headed by Sreekandapuram CI Joshy Jose and Payyavoor SI P C Rameshan.

Sreekandapuram police completed the inquest and the bodies were sent to Pariyaram medical college for post-mortem. Municipality chairman P P Raghavan supervised the procedures.

Among the deceased, Maneesh, son of Gopinath and Omana, was doing rubber tapping and mechanic works. Arun, son of Saji and Remi, was an aluminum fabrication worker. Sanoop is son of Omana and Chandran and was a construction worker.
