Board exams: KSRTC will ferry students if needed, says Transport Minister
Kozhikode: With the pending SSLC, HSE and VHSE board exams slated to begin on May 26, Transport Minister AK Saseendran said that all transportation facilities will be ensured for students taking the exams.
Most of the schools have their own vehicles. All those have been instructed to be used. By then private buses will also resume services. If there is a shortage of vehicles even after this, KSRTC will conduct services for students, the minister told the media here.
A discussion was held with private bus owners the other day. They informed their difficulties in resuming services with the COVID-19 restrictions in place. Their issues will be considered. Most of the buses need maintenance works that have to be completed, before resuming services. Public transportation including KSRTC is in crisis. Centre's aid is necessary to overcome this, the minister added.
He also ensured strict action against those who attacked two private buses in the district which resumed services. He condemned the incident and said that the attackers tried to pass a message that those who conduct services will be attacked similarly, which can’t be allowed.
