Black tea sold in liquor bottle for Rs 900; 2 youth cheated in Kollam
Kollam: Two youth were cheated after one litre of black tea was sold to them labeled as foreign liquor for Rs 900. The incident happened at a bar in Anchalumoodu area in Kollam on Monday at 5 pm.
Two youth who came to the bar for liquor were cheated by a middle aged man, who approached them with a bottle. The youth thought that the bar employees were selling liquor outside the bar as the counter was about to be closed. They immediately bought the bottle at the asked price and left the area. They realized that the man cheated them only after they opened the bottle.
An excise team reached the bar and inspected it once they were informed about the incident. They realized that it was not a bar employee who cheated the youth when they examined a CCTV footage of the bar.
The footage showed that the middle aged man was accompanied by someone else and that they left the area in an auto rickshaw immediately after selling the bottle. The accused have been identified from the footage. However, the excise department will not be able to file a case as it was an act of cheating.
