Alappuzha: A 25-year-old woman IT employee was brutally thrashed by her husband and relatives alleging that she was possessed by evil spirits. The incident took place in Kattanam, Alappuzha.
The Nooranad police have arrested the victim’s husband Aneesh, relatives Shibu, Shahina, ‘wizard’ Sulaiman and his aides Anwar Hussain and Imamuddin in connection with the incident.
According to the woman, Aneesh and his relatives have been subjecting her to black magic for the past three months. She informed the police about the matter, the other day.
Following this, the police registered an FIR and nabbed six people, over the woman’s complaint.
According to the woman, Aneesh is deeply superstitious and used to recite certain mantras in her ears every day since their marriage.
As she resisted the move, he alleged that she was possessed by evil spirits and brought ‘wizard’ Sulaiman to their home.
“The black magic rituals were conducted in a closed room. As I resisted, they thrashed me using coir and cut my body using a sword and knife,” stated the complainant.
