Thiruvananthapuram: CPI Kerala state secretary Kanam Rajendran alleged that the BJP was using central agencies for political gains. He added that Bineesh Kodiyeri, son of CPI (M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, is not part of the government and hence his arrest will not affect the government in any way.
Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had clarified his stance over the arrest of Bineesh Kodiyeri earlier itself. Bineesh is not a party member. As such, neither the CPI (M) nor the government has anything to say on the matter, said Kanam.
Bineesh Kodiyeri was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate the other day in connection with the financial transactions linked to the Bengaluru drug bust case. He will be interrogated by ED under custody for 4 days.
ED has registered case against Bineesh under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). If found guilty, Bineesh could be imprisoned for 3 to 7 years.
