BJP mulls revamp at lower committees; to bring 'Love Jihad' row to national attention
Kochi: BJP has been mulling for a revamp at the lower committees, say sources. On Sunday, the party leadership took a serious note into the matter while holding talks over the report submitted by the commission appointed to study the poll debacle.
Krishnadas faction continued to demand that the state president and committee secretary must take the responsibility for BJP's defeat in the assembly elections. Meanwhile, former BJP chief CK Padmanabhan, who took a strong stance against the party leadership , skipped the meeting.
But the faction led by Muraleedharan examined the poll debacle as defeat of the whole committee system, including BJP and Sangh Parivar associations.
Some leaders expressed disappointment over the intervention of RSS in the polls.
The appointment of inexperienced coordinators also resulted in the setback, observed the leaders. Many of the members opined for a major revamp in the lower committees.
When age became a criterion for committee membership, many inexperienced people took leadership of the committees. The party would not function properly without replacing such committee members, opined some members.
Strong criticism was raised against 7 district committees. Changes will be made in these committees.
BJP to bring 'Love Jihad' row to national attention
Following the Pala Bishop's controversial remark and the Christian communities concern over Love Jihad, the party is planning to make use of the subject for political gains. The subject will be brought to the attention of the nation.
On Sunday, Kerala BJP General Secretary George Kurian wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking central intervention to curb jihadi activities and protect Roman Catholic Bishop of Pala Joseph Kallarangatt and the Christian community based on allegations made by him regarding various kinds of jihad being waged by Islamist elements to entrap non-Muslim youth.
