BJP mouthpiece showers criticism on Alphons Kannanthanam
Kozhikode: BJP mouthpiece ‘Janmabhoomi’ has severely criticised union minister Alphons Kannanthanam for his comments following the controversy over the flood relief offered by the UAE. The editorial of ‘Janmabhoomi’ published on Monday remarked that the comments he made during the issue were insensible.
“Even at the face of a disaster, the political opponents do not hesitate to bury BJP. Nothing more could be expected from them. But when a union minister responds, shouldn’t it be a little sensible?
Alphons Kannanthanam, the union minister of state from Kerala, should have been a little more modest. Kerala needs Rs 700 crore offered by the UAE. If there are any issues to accept it, they should be cleared.
The minister shouted before the media that the union ministers are holding discussions for this. It may be an attempt to show off, but it is annoying sometimes,” the editorial said.
Janmabhoomi also criticised that the minister’s act of sleeping in a relief camp was a publicity stunt. It pointed out that only stone pelting through social media was the gift he received in return for the act.
The editorial also criticised the article written by CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan about the news on UAE’s flood aid. It said that even the deserving help will be lost due to the unnecessary controversies and chief minister and other ministers are acting in accordance to that realisation.
