Kochi: Kerala BJP chief K Surendran has issued a show cause notice to Padmaja Menon, national secretary of Mahila Morcha, for going against the party's decision. The party had decided not to support the no-confidence motion moved by UDF against the education panel chief (who belonged to CPM) in Kochi Corporation, and had issued a whip to stay away from voting. However, Menon backed the no-confidence motion, refusing to accept the whip.
Menon was in Karnataka for the BJP's assembly campaigning, and the party did not expect her to attend the meeting. However, she surprised the party by returning to Kochi, and did not accept the whip issued by the party's district committee office through the district collector, who headed the meeting.
The show cause notice issued by the BJP chief to Menon asks her to explain her conduct within two days.
