BJP leaders held for violating prohibitory order in Sabarimala
Sabarimala: BJP leaders AN Radhakrishnan and JR Padmakumar were arrested for violating prohibitory order in Sabarimala. A team of six members including the leaders violated the prohibitory order on Saturday around 2'o clock at Nilakkal.
A team of police led by four DySPs arrested the team after finding them as protesters. The police had mistaken the BJP activists as pilgrims to the temple, until they started to stage protest by chanting Ayappa mantras. They arrived here in three vehicles.
Talking to media, the BJP leaders alleged that the government is trying to destroy the sanctity of the shrine and they will fight to protect Sabarimala at any cost.
Later, they were taken to Nilakkal police station.
The tantri family and members of the Pandalam royal family considered closing down of the temple if further attempts were made by women of the barred age group.
Security has been further beefed up around the shrine which will close its doors on October 22.
The TDB would be submitting a detailed report about the happenings in and around the temple both to the Supreme Court and the Kerala High Court next week.
