BJP gains 10 lakh new membership in Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state president P S Sreedharan Pillai said that when the first phase of membership campaign was completed, 10 lakh new members have joined the party. The office bearers of even CPM and CPI have joined BJP. Also people from minority communities came towards BJP. The membership list will be released soon, he said.
At present, there are 25 lakh members in Kerala BJP. The first phase of membership campaign ended on August 30. There has been a growth of 70 percent. This is the reflection of the hard tried activities of LDF and UDF against Narendra Modi government which have created a fright among the minorities. The new members include grandson of Muslim League founder leader Bafaki Thangal, former vice chancellor of Calicut university and former registrar. 92,000 people had approached demanding the membership, Pillai added.
Responding on former Governor Sathasivam’s comments on Sabarimala, Pillai said that those were his personal views.
“The comments he didn’t say while he was the Governor have no importance when he says after quitting the post. The government and CPM are still in dilemma on Sabarimala issue. Party’s stance was publically rejected by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan,” Pillai added.
