BJP considers Suresh Gopi, PK Krishnadas, CK Padmanabhan for Kasaragod LS seat
Kanhangad (Kasaragod): BJP is all set to perform their best in Kasaragod Lok Sabha constituency in the upcoming Parliament elections by fielding state leaders of the party.
As it has been confirmed that K. Surendran is unlikely to contest, the district leaders have demanded the state leadership to field actor and MP Suresh Gopi in the constituency. When the Sabarimala issue was on fire, a programme organised at Kanhangad with Suresh Gopi as the chief guest witnessed huge rush of people.
The district leaders also argued that Suresh Gopi has built houses for Endosulphan victims and a Snehaveedu at Ambalathara which turned out to be positive factors for him. Former state presidents P. K. Krishnadas and C. K. Padmanabhan are other prominent candidates under consideration. Among them, the state leadership gives priority to P. K. Krishnadas.
One faction of the district committee has demanded that Karnataka BJP state unit member and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel from Mangalore should be fielded to stun the public. Nalin Kumar actively takes part in the BJP campaign programmes in Kasaragod. The move is with the intention to collect maximum votes from Kannada region.
If Manjeshwaram assembly constituency by-election is declared at the same time, a representative of the linguistic minority will be fielded in any of the polls. State committee members Suresh Kumar Shetty, Kundar Raveesha Tantri and Manjeshwaram constituency president Satheesh Chandra Bhandari are under consideration.
BJP had received 1.75 lakhs vote share in the previous Lok Sabha elections and more than 2 lakh votes in the assembly elections. This is 35 percent higher than their vote share in 2009. The Sangh Parivar organisations and tributaries of BJP report that the party can perform better in polls, if they highlighted Sabarimala issue.
