Bison after being rescued from well

Edakkunnam: The authorities failed to drive a bison, which entered the residential area at Edakkunnam in Kanjirappally, back to the forest even on the second day.

The bison that poses a threat in the region had fallen in a well on Tuesday night. The next morning, it was rescued from the well using an earth mover under the supervision of forest department officials. As soon as the bison came out of the well, it escaped from the spot.

The officials inferred that the bison entered the residential area from Murinjapuzha in Idukki. The authorities are less likely to resort to tranquilising the bison as it would be impractical to catch it and release it in the forest soon.

The officials are attempting to drive the bison into the forest via the same route it took to end up in the residential area. However, it would be arduous to drive the bison through the hilly terrain to Murinjapuzha, which lies nearly 40 kilometres away from Edakkunnam.
