Kottayam: Bishop Franco Mulakkal, accused in the nun rape case, has tested positive for COVID-19. It is learned that the Bishop, who is in Jalandhar, contracted the virus from his advocate in Punjab.
On Monday, the Kottayam Additional Sessions Court had revoked Franco Mulakkal’s bail and issued a production warrant against him. The bishop had continuously failed to appear before the court.
When questioned as to why he did not appear before the court, Franco Mulakkal had informed the court that his advocate Mandeep Singh had tested positive for coronavirus. The Bishop added that he was in quarantine as he was in the primary contact list of the advocate.
Franco Mulakkal informed that he had visited his advocate to seek legal advice. The Bishop has been admitted to the Jalandhar District Hospital. The next hearing of the case is scheduled for August 13.
